Get a breath of fresh air at Ellis Brigham
Publication Date: 14 February 2012
Now you can prepare for your next high level mountain adventure
without leaving the high street.
The Altitude Centre, the UK's No1 altitude training company, has
brought the mountain to Ellis Brigham, the UK's premier
mountaineering and ski equipment retailer, in the form of an
altitude training pod.
Developed by Richard Pullan the system uses a technique of
breathing short bursts of mountain air through a mask, alternated
with normal air and is the quickest way to adapt to low oxygen
levels as found at altitude.
Successfully used by the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City and
the England Rugby team the technology has now been adapted for the
retail environment.
Sit back in the comfortable chair; plug your own personal
altitude mask into the kiosk and experience being in the
mountains.
The kiosk has been developed by Evoke's in house design team to
both house the system hardware which supplies the face mask and to
guide the user through their training, helping them to gain maximum
benefit from the session. At the end of which the Altitude Centre's
unique testing protocol then provides an instant, detailed report
on performance which is displayed on screen.
Combining both the system hardware and software into a
single purpose built kiosk has allowed The Altitude Centre to
provide a safe, compact unit, suitable for the retail environment
and which is easy for retailers to manage and maintain.
Mark Brigham, Ellis Brigham's Marketing Director says, "The pod
is a fantastic addition to the store and will give customers the
opportunity to improve the preparation for their next challenge".
Indeed Mark used the Altitude Centre to train for Mont Blanc &
Kilimanjaro himself !
